What the programme actually covers

Partner dancing is a conversation between two people - and conversations have to be practised.

Each live session focuses on a single, specific skill: posture alignment, weight transfer, entry into a turn, or the subtle pressure signals that make leading and following feel effortless. Sessions are recorded and available for 14 days after broadcast so nothing is lost if schedules clash.

Participants work in real time with instructors, ask questions mid-session, and receive corrections based on what they share on camera. Progress depends on consistent practice between sessions.

Who this suits

No prior experience required

The programme starts with complete beginners and scales in difficulty. Couples and solo participants are both welcome - pairing is arranged within the group when needed.

Participants need a clear floor space of roughly 2×2 metres and a device with a camera. No specialist equipment is required.

Session by session

Each module builds on the previous one. Skipping ahead is possible but not recommended - the sequencing is deliberate.

Standing before moving

Posture, frame, and neutral balance - the foundation that every other skill depends on. Most beginners skip this and spend months correcting the consequences.

2 sessions
Weight and timing

How to shift weight cleanly, match a beat, and begin moving with a partner rather than alongside one. Waltz and social foxtrot are used as the primary vehicles here.

2 sessions
Lead, follow, and the space between

The mechanics of connection - how signals travel through contact points, how following is an active skill, and how leading is listening as much as directing.

3 sessions
Turns, pivots, and spatial awareness

Rotational movement introduced through salsa and tango vocabulary. Spotting technique, momentum control, and how to keep orientation in a shared space.

3 sessions
Musicality and phrasing

Moving beyond counting beats - understanding musical structure, choosing when to accent and when to soften, and how to make a dance feel shaped rather than mechanical.
